Homemade Gifting Ideas

1. Bath Bombs

what you will need

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup citric acid
  • 1/2 cup epsom salt
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • coloring pigment optional
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons almond oil or melted coconut oil
  • 3/4 tablespoon water
  • 12-15 drops essential oil
  • Bath bomb molds

Once you have all of your ingredients together you will want to start my measuring and mixing them together in a large bowl. Using a pigment can add fun colors to your bath bombs, use as much or as little as you like to get your favorite color!

Begin to slowly wet the ingredients by adding your essential oils. My favorite is peppermint oil for the smell and soothing properties. Go very slowly while adding your wet ingredients to the dry ingredients in this step. A few drops at a time while mixing will yield the best results.

The citric acid is what causes the bath bombs to fizz when it comes into contact with water. Adding the wet ingredients slowly minimizes this affect, allowing you to create the ball.

Once mixed, you’re ready to mold. I really love these snowflake molds I found for cupcakes, but this is again up to you to get creative with. Fill the mold until it seems as if it is slightly overflowing and press down firmly. Allow the mold to set for a few minutes before tapping and gently pulling apart.

Give your bathbomb at least 24 hours to dry out before gifting or enjoying for yourself.
